Sharon Cohen is Associate General Counsel at Sempra Energy, a Fortune 500 energy services holding company based in San Diego with businesses that that develop energy infrastructure, operate natural gas and electric energy utilities, and provide related products and services to more than 31 million consumers worldwide. Ms. Cohen joined Sempra Energy in 2000, and leads the company's litigation, regulatory, employment, labor and environmental legal teams. Ms. Cohen has held several positions at Sempra Energy, including Assistant General Counsel-Litigation, Assistant General Counsel-Federal Regulatory Law and Chief Counsel at Sempra Generation where she lead the legal affairs and administration for that company. In addition to legal positions, Ms. Cohen also previously served as Regional Vice President at Sempra U.S. Gas & Power where she was responsible for the company's external affairs, regulatory, environmental and compliance functions. Prior to joining Sempra Energy, Ms. Cohen practiced law at Skadden, Arps, Slate Meagher & Flom LLP.

Ms. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles and earned her law degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. She served as law clerk to A. Andrew Hauk of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Ms. Cohen currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program (SDVLP), a nonprofit organization founded in 1983 to provide legal services and advocacy to disadvantaged people in San Diego County, and as a member of the board of governors for the Association of Business Trial Lawyers.
