Volunteer Opportunities
In order to be sucessful, the Academy of Law relies on volunteers to serve as mentors, host student interns and speak to students about the law and careers in the legal field. Continue reading below for more information about volunteering with the Academy of Law.
Mentor Program
Practicing attorneys are needed to work with our 11th grade Academy students. Mentors and students meet one time per month between October and May, for approximately 1.5 hours during the school day. Mentors work with students on researching and applying to colleges, interview skills and goal setting. Mentors serve as role models who teach, inspire, and support students in achieving their college and career goals.
If you are interested in volunteering as a student mentor, please complete a MENTOR APPLICATION by September 28, 2018.

Internship Program
In order to graduate from the Academy of Law, all 12th grade students are required to participate in an internship. The Academy of Law is in need of organizations willing to host two of our student interns. Firms or businesses located Downtown, San Diego are ideal because they are easily accessible to our students who use the city buses for transportation. Internships take place during the Spring semester (March - May); students are required to complete 60 hrs of work (Including time spent at school completing internship assignments).

Guest Speakers
The Academy frequently utilizes attorneys, judges, paralegals, and other legal professionals to speak to students about careers in the law. Students are always excited to hear first hand from real people working in the legal field. Guest speakers can serve as a source of inspiration to students who are just beginning to explore college and career options.
